2016 Come Follow Me Calendar and DIY Binding

For the new year, I decided that I should talk to the kids about resolutions.
I found the talk by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, given October 2012.
He starts his talk by telling of a nurse that works with terminally ill patients.
She asks them all the same question, "Do you have any regrets?"
President Uchtdorf then talks about the top three answers that the patients give.
You need to read it, it is fantastic!

Since I was talking about resolutions, I decided to make them a calendar for 2016.
Every month coordinates with the lesson topics for the month:

The first page is where the youth can make resolutions for the year.
I wanted them to be able to see their resolutions all year long,
so they could remember them and continue to work on them.

Every month has a picture, a quote, and a scripture.
Here is a sample of what the month of April looks like:

You can download the calendar here "2016 Youth Calendar."
These calendars coordinate with Come Follow Me for all classes.
Young Men's, Young Women's, and Sunday School.
You are welcome to use this calendar for personal use for your classes.
Do not sell the file or the printed calendar.

I had them printed on 8x10 cardstock.
I punched 5 holes on a spare piece of paper for a guide.
4 on the top (about 3 1/4" apart starting at 1/4")
1 on the bottom so that it can be hung up on the wall.
I used two medium sized binder clips to hold the guide on the paper.
I punched 4 pieces of cardstock at the time.
My hand was a little sore by the end!
I made 16 calendars, I have a big Sunday School class.

Here's a picture of where the holes are from the front.
Then I cut Natural Polished Hemp in 3" strips and
tied them in a double knot on the 4 top holes.
I did not tie them tight around the paper.
I left space so they could be opened without bending the paper.
The knot was tight, but not tight around the paper.
Does that make sense?

I hope that you are able to enjoy them and that your youth enjoy them as well.
